How Important is Making Money From Your Forum

I know a lot of people who are running forums as a hobby, they don't desire to make money. I also know a lot of people who create forum and then sell it to recover their investment. I am a kind of person who is running forums in a hope to make money. I do not expect to make a lot of money but I want to make enough money to run the forum. What about you?

Making money on the forums I own at the moment is not overly important for me but it would be nice as it would mean the forums would be running themselves in a sense and I believe that is a goal for many forum owners.

Making money is of course cool but it is not possible, at least on forums. You might earn from ads but you might not be able to game good income, selling subscriptions can also be good but t is difficult to get paying members
