Dealing with Scammers

@Joeychgo do you use device fingerprinting solutions on your boards? How effective is this?
Fingerprinting?

Sure - Similar email, posting style, behaviours etc
No, I try to catch them before they post, and in the above example they generally dont post, just send PMs.

I look for things such as
  • Where their browser timezone is (africa is a dead giveaway for example) and if it matches the location they claim
  • What email service they are using - services like AOL, ATT.net, etc are generally not going to be
  • Anything else that's inconsistent

I encountered a scam on Flippa where a group of guys would be bidding on a site with the intention of making it seem valuable so a sucker would buy it, not knowing the bidders were all in one group.

I'm quite sure that's what was going on.

I have registration on Admin approval. I check everyone… if I dont like the look of them..they dont get in..OR..if I’m not quite sure..post moderation.
