It's not surprising, given that this generation has enough time to learn from the mistakes of the past ones. I've seen people who bought shares that are worth 50% less than they were worth 10 years ago. Diversifying would definitely reduce your risks.
 
Of course. If the stock market isn't giving returns as intended, it's only wise to switch focus. Not everyone can be a Warren Buffet who made his fortune from the stock market.
