What I have found for niche forums is that it's best to be somewhat concise with what the thread is about, and that's because search engines are bound to bring up your thread if the title matches what someone is searching.

Example:

If I post for "Easy way to add onto a foundation change crochet"

I generally will get responses with the keywords foundation add and crochet. Clickbait doesn't come up.

For some sites, clickbait really gets people to read what you have to say if they're just scrolling around without a purpose. With clickbait, you've suddenly given them a purpose.
