You need permits to feed the homeless?

A while back I read somewhere that people in certain cities were required to obtain a permit in order to feed the homeless. I understand if you are doing it on private property or something, but to make people get a permit in order to feed any homeless people seems wrong to me. What do you guys think though? Should we need permits if we go out to feed the homeless? I think the permits is meant for those who serve a lot of people, so I guess having a permit for that makes sense. What do you think?

This sounds very strange, because people need help and do not need permission for this, because if the government cannot help them, then they cannot forbid other people to help them. They just want to die. There is no such thing in my country.

I don't think people are providing real help to the homeless. Why not give them work or some path to work?

In our country, that is not the case, you can feed homeless without getting a permits. But if your event is big, something like feeding a lot of people in public space, you need permits from the city authorities.
