If your board is something with a niche that's user friendly, would you be willing to have your own kids join and participate in the community's discussions? Do you feel like it's not convenient for your own kids to be members on your forum even if them being there isn't going to cause any harm to them? What age do you think is probably going to best for them take part in your own forum talks?

The rule I have is 13 and up only. And if you're 13 you need permission from a parent or guardian. I don't like kids joining my forums though, but it's sort of inevitable. Which is why you should never post offensive content on your forums, or adult content. Some forums do set age limits, but I know some major forums set limits like 13+ with permission or 18+ otherwise.

For me though, my forums are 18+. I don't like dealing with kids and I don't want to risk my site with some kid signing up and getting mad for something that is posted.

If the forum is niche-specific, user-friendly, and provides a safe and positive environment, it may be suitable for kids to participate. However, it's important to consider their age, maturity level, and ability to handle online interactions responsibly. While there is no specific age that applies universally, it's generally advisable until children are old enough to understand and follow online safety guidelines, engage in respectful discussions, and protect their personal information.

This is exactly the same feeling I have because the reason why I say so is that it is going to be very difficult for kids to manage how they behave on such platform and there are some things an adult would know how to manage very well unlike how a kid is going to manage that which is going to cause a lot of problem.

My forums do not have any sensitive information or discussion. My forums are on family-friendly topics. Since I use adsnese, one of the major rules on Adsense is your website content must be strictly family friendly. Therefore, I do not have any issues with kids joining my forums. However, I do not allow kinds under the age of 13 years to register onmy forum.

I do not mind letting my kids on my forums as long as they are 13 or above as that is the law. Knowing I am staff and I can keep an eye on them and ensure they are safe helps too.

I don't really have any kind of NSFW content or sensitive content so I know they would not be able to run into that.
