Would you eventually buy out a house you rented first?

If given the option, would you purchase a house you were already renting? I know some people do sell their houses and or properties to people who have been renting or previously rented. With that being said, would you ever? I think I would if I was renting a house I really liked. But I'd of course need to be able to afford it first.
