Wordpress is a powerful content management system. You can use wordpress to build any kind of website including forums. I have one forum built on wordpress and I am using wpforo plugin for my wordpress forum. While forum plugins for wordpress are not as powerful as regular forum scripts but creating and managing forums on WordPress is a lot easier.

I do not have so many experiences about WordPress but I heard that it is very good to use to create forums.

You can create an account on wordpress.org and start using it or wordpress.com domain name, one is for cPanel and other for sub domain creation.
