Will we see a rise in one character domains? like X.com?

X.com is what Elon's new vision for Twitter is. It made me wonder if we're going to start to see more sites popup just using one character, either a letter or number. Do you think there will be an A.com, b.com, c.com, d.com etc? Also I don't know if any of those domains are active, so I hope they don't link to them.

I do not think it is possible to register one character domain these days. All 26 characters seem to have been registered as domain names for most of the popular domain extensions. Even all the popular words have already been registered as a domain name.

The only single character dotcoms which go anywhere are:

Q - redirects to a fiber internet company.
X - Twitter
Z - bullion trader

The rest don’t load so aren’t in use. I would love to know how much X cost to register. It can’t have been cheap but then, I suppose, money is no object.

There’s loads of new TLDs than there used to be; .pro, .tv, .blog. I’ve seen some really clever ones in use. Once upon a time - when KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) was a popular MMO - I registered a Serbian domain ‘starwa’ the TLD for Serbia is .rs.

Sadly, Lucasfilm is all over copyright infringements.

I don't think one character domain will become popular if I am honest. I would love to know how much Elon Musk paid for x.com but to him, that would have been pocket change more than likely.

I would think that one-character domains would cost quite a bit which is why I do not see them becoming really popular any time soon.

As soon as the domain squatters sell the domains…. Man if only I was an adult when the internet was first established I’d be rich buy all the character .com domains
