Fruits in my country are getting very expensive, despite the fact that majority of the fruits in here are locally frown. Only a few fruits get imported in here. Despite this, the prices of fruits have soared so much that many people are refraining from buying fruits. So, why fruits are becoming so expensive nowadays?

Most of the countries are exporting their agricultural produce without providing for the local people and hence the prices are soaring.

Fruits are typical for examples of goods that obey the laws of demand and supply. It is because there have been increase in knowledge about the health benefits of fruits and people are now seeking to stay healthy by eating plenty fruits. It has to necessarily increase in price.

You know that they will buy the seeds they use in planting those fruits and also fertilizers. Those things are getting expensive so fruits will also be expensive.

One more reason could be the rise in cost of transportation of fruits which in turn is causing the price rise of fruits.

Fruit prices can rise for a number of reasons, including rising demand, transportation costs, supply chain disruptions, weather-related crop failures, and transportation expenses. These elements may result in a decline in supply and an increase in production expenses, which would raise the price of fruit.

Transportation expenses is the biggest challenge that we are having in this area. A lot of people spend more to transport their goods (fruits) from the major markets to cities where they are selling it and that has been a big issue at the moment. I was thinking that government has a lot to do in this type of situation too.

I would say that in my country, it's as a result of most farmers not being into fruits and vegetables cultivation that makes these fruits become very expensive in the market. Some of them are imported and this makes them very costly. It's like how we don't grow apples but import them. Apples are very expensive.
