Why Gold is So Valuable In The International Market?

When it comes to investing in any kind of commodity or international market, one of the first things that come to our mind is gold. The fact of the matter remains that gold has always remained one of the most valuable commodity in the international market for a long time. It is also one of the oldest commodities, which has obviously gained so much attention and value. However, gold has no industrial usage. So, why is it considered so valuable?

I think it's due to it's scarcity, or the amount of gold available out there. I think the US government has gold reserves, but can't 100% confirm that.

I think it's valuable as a form of currency more than anything else. That and using it in jewelry. Also gold is often used in circuitry and some tech items. Usually just gold plated, but still.
