Why do people end up committing crime?

Is not that people are bad from initial process of their life some people are ending committing crimes as results of in appropriate stand proves of the government, a single thing may lead to commit a crime or influence to criminal acts.

Crime is on the increase in recent time than ever reported. For many, crime is paying off—handsomely. And who pays the price? The general public does, especially the lower income levels of society who are the least protected. U.S. Senator D’Amato stated in a letter to fellow New Yorkers that there was a “small dent in the crime rate.” But he added: “We still dead bolt our doors. We still live in fear of going out at night, even to the grocery store or church or temple. When we do go out, we make sure to walk where there are plenty of people and, more and more, we make sure to carry some ‘mugging money.’ There are so many things to worry about now, things we never used to fear. Sometimes we are so afraid that we become prisoners, while those who should be locked up go free.”
But why do some turn to crime as a way of life? Are poverty, hunger, and unemployment the basic reasons?

There are alot of reasons various people end up as criminals in most cases, it might be due to peer pressure, the kind of friends they hang out with in school and in the neighborhood, it could also be due to circumstances of life, life might have hit them hard to the point that they feel there is no other option for them again.
On my own views, I think the major reason that makes people to commit crime is unemployment , many graduates are at home sitting doing nothing, they have no source of income, but to steal , they see it as the best way to gain money.

Reasons for committing a crime include greed, anger, jealously, revenge, or pride. ... Others commit crimes on impulse, out of rage or fear. The desire for material gain (money or expensive belongings) leads to property crimes such as robberies, burglaries, white-collar crimes, and auto thefts
Some people engage in crime when they think that they did not have any other option left for them and they need to survive. Some people engage in crime out of laziness when they are not ready to put in the required work to make money for themselves.
Some people are born in crime and they will end up committing crime because it's the only way they were brought up. Some people commit crime as a result of the economic situation they found themselves in.
Some people fall on hard times, are dealt with bad news, can't find a job, etc. Some will give excuses as to why they can't find work for example, but it doesn't mean they aren't trying. I think people commit crime when they have no other means of supporting themselves. But still, I think if people just got jobs, they wouldn't have to go out stealing from people.
Anyway, they commit crime to survive, maybe get food, or take care of their kids. It's not ideal, but the US is a mess with poverty and the cost of living skyrocketing.

Well, I think that the environment could have a really huge effect as well. Some people are born in such kind of environment where crime rates are quite high and they adopt it as a way of living their lives. They refrain from working hard, but they are fine with risking their lives! Just imagine! Perhaps they may need counselling.
What I'm actually talking about being born in crime is when someone is born into a crime family. Take for instance like those who are born into the mod family or cartel family in Mexico and Colombia, it's going to be very difficult for them not to be involved in crime.
There can be so many reasons. Some have no choice; they need to survive, and the only way to do that is to commit crimes. Some people just crave money or revenge; some people feel amazing doing crimes and crave an adrenaline rush. There can be tons of reasons.

Well, if a person is born into such kind of environment, then it would be a bad thing. They may observe the behaviour of others and then adopt the same kind of behaviour as well. This is why it is very important to make sure that you move out of such kind of environment.
Search kids who are born in that kind of environment will always find it very difficult to leave because everything about them have already being involved with crime and getting to escape from it is almost impossible for them to do on their own.
This is something that I can totally agree with the cause you will find it very difficult to break free from such connection that you have with those people who are already involved with series of planned crimes.
