Why are there so many different game launchers?

If you're on PC and like to game, expect to download a launcher for just about every game company these days. Whether it be Steam, Epic Games, Origin EA, Rockstar, GOG, Amazon, and more. There seems to be more launchers out there. Even EA requires you to sign into their launcher to play their games through Steam, which is just dumb to me. Anyway, what do you think about this?

I get so confused with all the launchers we have access to now and I am super happy when game developers agree to move their game to a launcher that I use regularly as that means it's one less that I have to have installed on my PC.

If I could have it happen, I would love to have all games accessible on either Steam or Epic Launcher so I only had to rely on one launcher.
