Who plays an instrument?

What do you play and how long have you played? How did you get started? Are there instruments you want to learn but haven't started on?

In a middle school that I was attending in Arkansas. My father got me into band. I was under the delusion that I could become a great musician. I chose to play a wood wind instrument, the clarinet. I played it for 2 and a half years before I was sick of it.

By the time I had moved back in with my mom and was attending high school as a freshman. I wanted to do everything else but play in band. I never practiced and I faked my way to 2nd chair. I would always pretend to blow into my instrument when everyone else was playing. The teachers never asked me to perform a solo piece to see if I was actually playing like they made me do in Arkansas.

I would purposely miss the concerts and my teacher and classmates would tell me how they needed me. They never once believed me that I was a fraud. But because I skipped the class required concerts which made up most of my grade in that class. As a consequence, they took my position of 2nd chair and put someone else in it and moved me to last chair where I was when I took the class.

When 2nd semester came around, I dropped the class and moved on to something else.

I've always preferred instruments that use hands only, but I admire people who can do other stuff. Anyway, hands-only stuff is all I've been good at. Who else is similar? Well, at the moment, I'd like to learn the banjo to add to the other stuff I play, like drums, guitar, keyboard, bass guitar etc..
