What's the most amount of traffic you got in a single day?

When it comes to getting traffic to your sites, what is the most amount of traffic you've ever gotten in a single day? A while back I got a jump of 100,000+ users coming to my site after I did a giveaway promotion. But sadly, due to it being a giveaway, most of that 100,000+ didn't stick around. I maybe retained about 5,000 users once the giveaway ended. Not great, but also not as bad as I would think.

Still though, we strive to get as much traffic as we can and to keep that traffic coming back. Anyway, what's the most amount of traffic you've had in a single day?

I once received 5k daily traffic on my multi-author blog. That is the highest traffic I have received in a single day for my site. Normally the site in question was receiving around 1000 daily visits. The site had over 100 articles and 6 active writers publishing 2-3 articles every week.
