What would you do if your parents didn’t like your partner?

I have often seen in movies when parents didn't like the main character's partner and it caused a lot of problems, but in my opinion, in reality it is not like that and most parents still accept their child's choice. Maybe I'm wrong how would you say yes or no?

Thankfully, it did not happen to me. My parents liked the girl I was getting married to and they are in cordial terms. But I can understand there would be problems if your spouse and parents are not in good terms
