What is the actual history behind the Palestinian & Israeli conflict?

Through out this conflict we have seen multiple agendas and claims been pushed to the public from both sides so that makes understanding the actual events behind it a bit cloudy to the bystander, I'm not trying to push the blame on a side here, I'm just curious to know what could have led to this ordeal.
So if anyone with a neutral perspective of the topic please educate us about the matter.
