What happens if your credit score is really low?

If somehow your credit score dropped to the lowest it could go, what would you do about the situation? Try and build it back up? Go for bankruptcy and start fresh? I don't check my credit score that often, and I think mine is mostly good. But has your credit score ever been super low? What did you end up doing to sort it out?
