What happened to Hostproto?

I had hosted several domains with them and received a notice a few weeks ago that PayPal automatic payment had been canceled.
I meant to log in to the panel and submit a support request about it but now the whole domain ( hostproto .com) seems to be down.
Fortunately my DNS is hosted somewhere else.

I heard about this. It screwed a lot of people over. Thankfully, I had never worked with them and never knew anyone who had. What a mess that must have made for so many people though. This is why I prefer to have my own server and not go through a hosting provider.
