What do you all think of the WPForo plugin?

Do you mean WPForo for WordPress?
If so, I have been a member of a few sites that used it. It's nice, but it does not have the feature set that XenForo does. The other issue is (gain, if referring to WPForo) it requires WordPress, which in itself is a mess.
If you are using WordPress as your core site and want a forum it is one of the better options, especially if you want the forum and the blog integrated decently without jumping through additional 3rd party plug-ins/add-ons.

If you actually mean WordForo, I've never heard of it, but I don't keep up with the latest stuff now.

I have used WPForo to build a couple of forums on Wordpress and based on my experience, it is one of the best forum plugins available for wordpress. While creating and running forums with forum software is a complicated process, WPForo simplifies things as you can do everything from your dashboard.

From your experience with using WPForo, it seems like something that's very good in all aspects that you have used it. How would you compare WPForo with other forum softwares that you have used (both free and paid softwares)?

I know I evaluated it when deciding what software to run on my Astrophotography site. In some ways having access to WordPress for certain features would have been a benefit. But when it came down to the comparison of WPForo vs Xenforo for the forum, there was no comparison. Luckily there were some great 3rd party add-ons from XenAddons that quickly swayed me to use XF.

I always liked it more than bbPress.

I felt WPforo was more like the forum platforms that we're all use to here. More common forum features.

I wasn't sure if they were still around or not.

I'm working on a paid membership system for my blogging blog and might use that as the discussion feature on the community.
