What do developers do when a new console is out?

Lets say you're working on a new game for a current gen console and all of a sudden there is an announcement for a new console to come out next year. Fans are overjoyed, and can't wait to get their hands already on this new console. But what do developers feel when they get this bit of news as they're developing for a previous console? Do they put the focus going forward on the new gen consoles, or will they finish the game for the original console first?

I know some developers get news on new consoles first and often already have the dev console in hands to make new games. So idk, maybe most developers are on board before that big announcement. What do you think?
