Were you ever going to go pro, but suffered a career ending injury?

A lot of sports stars suffer career ending injuries. A lot of these stars had dreams of becoming pros, but ended up suffering an injury that stopped that career trajectory. Has something like this ever happened to you? Were you ever able to recover and get back to playing? Or did you end up retiring?

I nearly became a professional footballer as I was a good defensive midfielder growing up. However, I had a knee injury that made me stop playing for long, and that was how I couldn't catch up with my teammates who went for trail. Such opportunity didn't present itself after that moment.

I might have actually become a professional footballer if I didn't have a very serious knee injury when I was playing amateur football. I was very good at my game back then but after suffering the injury, I couldn't be very active with playing the way I used to play and that was when I knew that it was all over for me.

No, I never had any interest or intention of becoming a pro footballer or swimmer. I love football but I love swimming more. Even at that, I never had any intention of going pro in swimming competitions. Swimming is a hobby and how I exercise.

I was never even close. All my interest and obsession about football is just for the fun of it. Growing up, we were made to believe those who choose sports have no future. Back then, there wasn't as much money in it. Every parent wanted their kids to get a university degree and get a good job. Due to that, I never pursued a career in sports.

Knee injuries are always very nasty and they never fully recovered 100% if you don't undergo a very good knee surgery depending on the extent of the damage that was sustained from the injury. I know a lot of people whom their football career has been ended as a result of knee injury. It is exactly what Neymar is suffering from right now.

I have had several injuries in my life, some even lasting 2 months, but I don't think I was going to be a professional in the sports I played since I didn't have all the drive that is needed to be a professional, at least that's what I think so, although I did dedicate many years to some sports, and therefore I had different injuries, some milder, others more serious.

There are so many individuals in my society that are currently hoping that football is going to be what will bring them to stardom but unfortunately in all their lives of training, it have not materialized to what they want. Also age is no longer on their side because when it comes to football, if you are no longer young, it is going to be very difficult for you to break into a very profitable Football Club.
