Using .forum domain extension?

Do you think using the .forum extension is a good idea for a forum's domain if it's strictly a forum? Do you think it would help with the SEO more?

Would you ever use the .forum extension for a project?

It depends if the forum is free script product or it is someone paid one because in first condition there is a small limited number of extensions are provided for hosting for example.

The extension does not help in SEO. However, if you are using a niche extension like dot forum for a forum site, it will help in branding. You are also likely to get the name of your choice as these domains are new. However, you must also remember that dot forum is an expensive domain. You will have to pay almost 5 times more than a dot com

I can't really say yes or no. I mean, if some cool idea like TheReading.Forum pops in my head, then I might do something. However, I'm generally not on the lookout for that extension. I like .com, .net, .org, .info, .xyz, .club, .tk, .ml, .win, .fun, .us normally.

I think if you have a website that is called, for example "applesarethebest.com" and you wanted to do a secondary site for a forum off the back end of that with "applesarethebest.forum" that is fine.
