Do you use abbreviations for your domain? Do you feel for a business one should not use abbreviations? My forum is an acronym to help people remember, but people don’t know what my forum is about unless they go to it. If I were to get my own domain, I’d want one that would reflect on my forum’s niche so there wouldn’t be any confusion.

Most places will adopt some kind of abbreviation for something over time, if not formally then definitely informally. For example here is informally known as AJ and if used here or on this site's Discord, chances are it will be correctly interpreted as meaning the site. Our... good friend? TheAdminZone is of course known frequently as TAZ.

This is even true amongst big firms - Microsoft is often known as MS and you'll even see that on internal docs and branding (e.g. MSDN). Wherever a shortening can be used that's relatively unambiguous and shorter than saying/writing it in full, people will inevitably do that.
