Updating retro games via emulation

Hey guys, I have been on a retro gaming kick, been playing a randomizer for Super Mario World on the SNES and now I'm looking to play some classic PS2 games next. I was wondering if you guys know of sites and places that help modify these retro games to have upscaled graphics, in HD, and with updated sprites and more. Are there any sites out there worth checking in regards to this?

Not looking for anything relating to the roms, but those who set up mods for said games to give them a better HD look and more.

A friend of mine messes around with all this stuff. Managed to set up a "switch" on his one PC that hosts all the games and they function. I don't know how he does it. He has a backlog of older games too.
