This is a great article that I recommend to anyone who is interested in starting a new forum.

It cuts to the heart of an issue for a lot of new forum owners, where they only think about the size of their potential community versus the size of their obtainable community.

The entire population of people who might possibly be interested is oftentimes huge for most topics or niches. However, the community or audience that you can actually reach is much, much smaller. And that's the size of audience you should focus on and build for.
