Teens & forums?

Advertisement Placeholder
I see nothing wrong with hiring teenagers as moderators as long as they have proven to be responsible and capable of the job. At the end of the day, it is about the forum succeeding and the moderator doing his job, age is just a number and age shouldn't define a persons character.

Well, if a teenager is 13, that's too young. But 17-year-old teenager is okay. Of course, it depends on their personal characteristics and the sense for responsibility.

As I have said on other forums, teenagers have proven to be more intellectual and mature than some adults. In cases where this is true, I'll hire a teenager. However, I limit the amount of teens and the age of teens. I typically will not hire someone under the age of 15 as they are barely old enough to be online in the first place.

I think hiring teenagers on forums are great since they can be a pretty big audience. You really have to look at the standpoint as to whether or not they are mature and can present themselves professionally during the hiring process, however. If a teenager is at least 15 years old, I say you should give them a shot regardless!

Honestly, I generally wouldn't hire any teen that are 13 or 14, simply because they haven't gotten to the point of understanding enough of the online world, to really give quality time with what their staff position would require. At ages 15 and above, so long as they are mature and they know what they are doing, I wouldn't mind hiring them, so long as they don't do anything severe, like being constantly rude to others.

As long as they are mature, they know what they are doing, they're serious about it, and they're nice, I see no problem with hiring teens as staff members.

I'm only 16 myself. :p

Age has little effect on forum management , what counts is experience and professionalism. Online forum is not like offline where physical presence may be needed
