I don't understand what kind of risks you are referring to. Let's say you write an ebook and publish it on Amazon Kindle. You have nothing to lose even if your ebook does not get sold. Let's say you create digital art and put it on Fine Art America, you wouldn't lose anything because you can list it for free.
 
@Rudolph - I was referring to risk in a much broader context. For example, there have been many online sellers who have tired selling products online. They purchased products with the intention of selling products to other people. However, they never managed to make a sale. As a result of that, they suffered from losses.

If you want to sell from your inventory, you will have to either manufacture your products or acquire products from other sellers. You will have to spend a sizeable amount to acquire or manufacture products. If you are unable to sell these products, you will certainly be at risk. But there was ways to minimize the risk such as manufacturing or acquiring few products.
