As an administrator/owner do you prefer your staff to only be staff at your forum, or do you not mind if they are sharing their time at other communities?

I know depending on how many communities they are split between that could possibly impact the amount of time they can promise to yours - but these days with less and less people being available to become staff I think this is something we can no longer worry about. If someone is promising but possibly might not be as active as we'd like perhaps it'd be worth a conversation and see how much time they think they can provide to your community specifically.

I've also heard where admins did not want their staff working at similar types of forums (i.e. advertising/webmaster could not work at another advertising/webmaster but could work at gaming/general as well) this would be because of possibly working for the "competition". What are your thoughts?

Well, I don't mind my staff working on other forums, even when the forums are my competitors. However, I see a lot of website owners have issues with this. Recently, I was fired from a staff position because of my involvement in a rival forum. INterestingly, they decided to keep some staff who were also working on rival forums. I think a lot of forums have double standard when it comes to staffing at multiple forums.

I don't mind where my staff works on the internet, just like it doesn't bother me where they would work in real life. It's their choice to make where they wish to put in time and effort to create something they are interested in.

This simply shows that some forums have agenda against the others. I don't see any big deal with a staff working on multiple forums, but admins of those forums should not let hatred or jealousy mess up what they have built so far. I will always wish to see other forums grow and if it was a staff on my forum that helped them, good.

I wouldn't have any problems with any of my staff working with another forum but with an exception to a toxic rival. If another forum which have been a hated rival with how they have fought me for years comes for my staff, I will give the person two options. It's either you go with them and leave my staff or stay in my staff and snub them.
