Sponsorships

Every once in a while, most forums hold a competition or two to get things rolling around the forum, maybe to get the members posting, referring or whatever but there is always a question surrounding the prizes in my head. Do you pay for it out of your own pocket or do you get sponsorships for say, services which your member-base may use.

For example, you could offer $10 for first place and get a free hosting plan from a host company which decides to sponsor you. To me, I would attempt to get sponsorships as much as I could just so I could offer more really. But thats just me, what do you think?

It would be great to have a competition that is sponsored *This reminds Sam of a good idea to discuss with xpl0iter and Haze*. Even if you can get the comp. partially sponsored it still saves money whilst providing the same benefit to users

I pay it from my own pocket..Haven't tried to get a sponsor for it.

I personally wouldn't know who to ask to sponsor my forum. I would ask gaming companies but many of them would look for larger gaming sites.

You could contact the developers of several not that big android/iphone game companies!
