What are the necessary things to spend money on a forum.

First thing for me is advertising, then a proper and reliable host, and I would also spend money on a theme as I think design is essential for any forum.

I don't have a forum, however, I have 15 websites. Every year I spend just about $500 for domain and hosting renewal. I use wordpress and I also use free themes and free plugins, therefore, I do not have to spend a lot of money on webstes

Well, I have no forum or website but I believe running of advert serves as a means of generating money for the forum though it might be annoying by the users or subscribers. Another thing to spend money on is also the design of the forum, that is also a means to generating traffic to the website or forum

advertising is a good idea , I seen many people that spends 100 of $ just to advertise a product,but for a website or forum you need to spend allot to advertise it out to people.

Though i do not have a forum to start with,but using your money on a forum to get awareness is a very good one as it ill go a long way to bring and create publicity for the site.

A lot of time is required for promoting the forum or other website also. Additionally for a forum there are a large number of spam signups which the admin has to handle, which makes managing a forum more difficult compared to a blog.

Of course the things you highlighted there are very key @Alexander. For me though the one thing I'll really spend my money on is advertising and growing my social media channels that would help in bringing lots of users to the forum.

In think the forum also needs to spend money on content creation. If the forum pays better to build better content, traffic will build, and when there is traffic, there will also be revenue.

The most important thing to spend money on in your forum is to spend on advertising and awareness to get more people and creates more traffics , thereby making more income.
