Would you ever have sparkling usernames on your forum or do you think that it is unprofessional?

I like it on a general discussion forum but if I were running one that I wanted to look more professional such as this one, I wouldn't use sparkling usernames.

I have see sparkling users name on this site. I am not sure how these users feel but in my opinion it is absolutely not necessary. Your focus should be on content creation and making sure that the users are following the rules.

I actually don't see sparkling usernames as unprofessional, i just feel it isn't necessary. I don't think i would ever have sparkling usernames on my forum.

I see the sparkling name feature on a lot of forums, these names are generally given to the staff or VIP members. However, I do not have that option enabled on my forum.

My one forum does. They are part of unlockable groups. Only 3 or 4 groups have them and you have to be very active to reach them. I don't think it is unprofessional at all.

I have yet to find out how to do it on my forum which I am using Xenforo. I have seen some ways but they never seem to work for me so I haven't bothered to try anymore.

I think something such as a sparkling username is great for say either staff members or even VIP members on a forum, it's something that helps these members stand out and it's a nice incentive as well to offer.

I think it depends on what the site is and if it's a fun general chat site or more of a business site, whether or not those types of things should be added.

If I'm running a high end business site where customers need to ask questions about the product, get help from other users, or talk about the services I offer, etc.. in a forum format, I'm not going to offer something that goes against my brand. I want it to remain as high end as possible.

But if I want to attract a certain crowd and make the site as fun as possible, I offer all the fun stuff to go along with it.

Well it depends though, for me i do not really mind having sparkling names, i believe it would actually make the forum fun as well, especially if you can earn it when you perform a task or though an event.

What is the relationship between sparkling usernames with having a fun website or business site? Could you explain a little bit more?

Most business websites want to ascertain a certain look and the sparkles don't give off the professional vibe they desire. It's also not part of their branding. Staying on brand is essential for clients to remember them by appearance immediately. The sparkles don't "fit" their look.

A fun website can have an anything goes presence, so it doesn't matter really, except they wouldn't want to be businesslike in their appearance. A stuffy, stiff look to a site isn't very welcoming to post your memes :D

In my opinion it's cool to have sparkling usernames it makes the forum more alive and fun it's a small reward for those who are very active on forums

It is an xenforo extension to suggest usernames for the users but the most of forums xenforo does not use it as it suggests since registration a username and let the user choose its one without AI influence.

This is something that depends on the preference of the community owner when it comes to how he likes everything to look in the community. I believe that some owners use it as a way to entice and get members to always be interested in contributing to the community by giving them some perks to their usernames.
