A conundrum of a question for myself really. As a forum owner, would you prefer that your community is small and manageable or large and active? Its a strange one really.

Obviously, you would love for your forum to take off and be active would you look back to the days where it was small and just think 'Oh, I miss those days'?

The real forum experience is when you know people in the forum and interact with them. I personally would like a forum that's active, not more, not less. Any forum with 100-250 active members ( members that really log in everyday and at least post a single message ) is good enough.
A forum with a lot of active members, with over 1000's of posts in a day, will only be liked by the forum owner and the management team, and those senior members with 'huge post counts', those who act cocky at times, I guess. No, they don't fail, but the experience is not that good. Such forums are only visited by the members for a reason, to clarify their doubts regarding something or to get help from someone else. Meanwhile a medium size forum can really give you a better experience. You get to know people, have fun and you'll really enjoy being there.

A big forum can be manageable if you know how to do it and get a decent team to help you. Our dream should be to have big active communities, since they really help members get the information and are also easier to monetize.
