Some forums have this feature on their index page where there is a shoutbox... Users can talk in a public chat on the page and message in there for everyone else to see.
Obviously, you can adjust the permissions and maybe the visibility as to who can see it but I think this would be quite a good feature to add on VoxGrid.
Anyone else got an opinion on this?

I think a shoutbox would be really neat. It would be really great to have an area where you can talk whatever you want. However, I think there would be some issues like privacy and setting it for certain groups but I still would like to see it.

A shoutbox is something that I have considered implementing. However, what @DaRealBoss said about privacy is one of the concerns I do have as it will be public. Also, I don't think that now is the best time to add a shoutbox. It may work when the activity and users grow. So for now, I will not be adding one but it's not something that I have disregarded completely.
Thank you for your suggestion. I will now lock this thread.

UPDATE: After considering this for a bit, I have decided to implement this feature. It's still a work in progress but, I think this feature won't be so bad. It integrates with Vox Bot too.

UPDATE: I have modified the purpose of this plugin to only display the threads and posts that occur for each user instead of being a shoutbox (as it wasn't really used properly anyways). It is now called the post box.

I think that it can be a good thing if people in the forum are able to respect how to make use of it, because if you look at the chat box it can be a way to just ask simple question that does not warrant a topic creation.

Yes it is quite useful option when people wants to have some fun talk which is not part of forum topics so I can't see it as content killer for me for sure. It gives you additional option for users.

It does, however there are some people that do tend to use harmful language in this, and therefore even though it may not be on the forum, it is still something that you have to monitor.

Yes that's correct and best example if live chat option with your video where sometime you will have bad comments or spamming over their and sometime it hurts you if you think deeply.

Having a Private chat system, among friends in the forum would be beneficial an open chat box would be disruptive to the site. Spammers might use this portal to disturb the flow of the site or can post spam content all across the members of the site. If it's a private chat, it's between know people or friends so it doesn't disturb the website.

Yes you're right but some website have private group system where people join each other and do discuss privately. I like that features as it looks like What's App group chat kind.

Live videos is not a very good idea on a forum like this because there is a lot of people that choose to remain anonymous on these sites and therefore this would not work for those type of people.

Yes, that's true, but some sites have closed group systems for people to get into groups and talk privately. I like these features because they look like a kind of app group chat.

A shoutbox, in my opinion, would be incredibly cool.
A space where you could say whatever you wanted would be fantastic.
I do believe there would be some concerns, such as privacy and customizing it for specific groups, but I still think it would be interesting to watch.

I think a shoutbox where users can talk in a public group chat for everyone to see is a really nice feature. I'm sure a lot of users would appreciate the idea of a shoutbox.

I am not a fan of shoutbox, I believe all the discussion in a forum should be done within the topic. I do not like the chat system on forums. I have never used shoutbox on my forums.

While some users may find it to be a useful and convenient method to interact with other members in real-time, others might find it to be unnecessary or distracting. Overall, the Shoutbox feature's usefulness may vary depending on the particular requirements and preferences of each forum group.

Adding a shoutbox or chat box to your site or forum is a fun way to promote conversation. As well, it's a fun way for site owners to be more open with their audience.

I wish more sites would include a shoutbox, but I suppose most sites probably have their own chat feature now.
