Should there be a set limit to how much players get paid?

Pro players get paid a ton of money, sometimes far too much money in my opinion. Some players make over hundreds of millions of dollars with some players getting $20M + a year. It's crazy to think that some sports stars can get that amount.

But you got other players who are making only 100K a year or some small number. I think for the more premier players, their should be a set limit to how much they are paid. Do you think that should be a thing? Or would you rather sports stars make as much as these teams can offer?

Unfortunately, there is no limit to how much they are going to earn. When you look at how much investment that comes into football, you will realise that those investing will pay more to have these stars playing for their clubs.

No, I don't see it as something which will be possibly done. The worth of a player keeps increasing when the player is in his prime. This will make the money he is paid by the club where he plays for to keep increasing. With new contract negotiation, the pay and other benefits are topped up.

When the sports player is working for the money, I don't think there should be any kind of set limits that should be put on the amount of money they can be able to make doing their job. There is so much money in sports today and when players can be able to make that money from putting their body through pains, no one should prevent them from making the most money.

Salary caps were put in place to limit the amount obtainable in some leagues. However, football is an entertainment biz. The money in it is so insane that footballers deserves whatever they get. Let's not forget these footballers will not play for life. Some of them can't even do a 10 year career due to injuries.

So, limiting what players earn while the football industry continues to return profit nearly every year will be impossible. They're the major actors of the game, they deserve a large chunk of the money.

Exactly! Any kind of sports where there is always a physical contact is capable of ending someone career in any minute which is the reason why it is not advisable or feasible for them to have a salary cap on what players are supposed to make. This is because when someone career ends abruptly, the person will not have any other means of making money.

On a more serious note, I have dudes around here whose lives are nearly in ruins because they chose football. Immediately after high school they focused on becoming a professional footballer. While going from one training camp to the other in search of opportunities, they forgo tertiary education and didn't learn any other noteworthy skill to build on. All they wants is football.

Some of them are now in there thirties with no club willing to take them on, no tertiary education to boost their CV and no skill to work with. They are stranded and bitter. They trusted football will sort them out. Some even played in the professional league here but didn't make enough out of it before disaster struck.

Footballers deserve their pay; they're the ones we pay to watch, not the football director or CEO raking in millions off the club on a yearly basis.

It is very unfortunate that the football industry is something that is a little bit corrupt if I should put it that way. There are so many talented players out there who can do very well in the international football club level but for one reason, they don't have anyone to sponsor them in order to get to that level and their talent will go to waste.

It's the laws of the market, if a player generates that because of his popularity, merchandising, performance on the field of play, and others, why should there be a limit? The player is generating that and even more with what the club earns money simply by having him in the squad, I don't see the reason to cap his salary.
