Should forum games count as posts?

Do you think forum games count as posts?

I think forum games are an easy way to increase post counts, but this does not reflect meaningful contributions. So no, they should not be counted as posts but should be included in forums as fun things to do. I enjoy playing forum games on forums.

I don't really have an issue if it brings up the post count so long as people have fun.

In general I don't think there's a problem with it.

The time I would suggest you might want to think otherwise: if you have post-count related permissions (e.g. get certain permissions at x posts) or you're running competitions (make x posts to be a valid entrant), forum games might want to be marked as not contributing to post count. Though in the latter case you can still go through their profile to verify they have made the right number of posts in the right board, I guess.

It's not something I'm overly concerned about, whilst it may not be seen as a 'constructive' post, it's still contributing to your community.

I don't count posts in my forum games forum, simply because I think people would try and make too many posts that lack depth just to up their post count, which doesn't look that great for members that have posted more in-depth content and their post count somewhat represents that.

There is nothing wrong with forum games being counted as posts count. If there are exceptions there maybe where forum points count as currency, then there is need to talk about it not counting. However, I don't see any big deal with that.

Personally I have no problem with forum games being counted. I agree on the part that currency should however be excluded from increasing.

I used to turn off the count for posts in my forum games sections on my old forums, however I don't do that anymore.

Have had forum game sections count toward post counts before on forums I was on and even staffed on before.

It actually depends on the nature of the forum games. If it's just a number count, it's not worthy of being counted as a post. I won't allow it to add up. But if it's something that involves extra work in posts words, I'm going to allow it to count.

I've turned off post count if we have a posting contest - so that way to hopefully motivate people to motivate people to post in other areas as well. Otherwise I keep it on - especially on a general forum. If it was perhaps a specific niche forum - I suppose I could understand not counting the posts.
