I came across a really beautiful analogy on water.
"When you drink water from a cup, it becomes part of you. When water falls on you like rain, it evaporates a few minutes later."
When you come across a new thought, a new idea, or a new experience (whether good or bad), is this nourishing like drinking water? Is it something that you feel like you should drink? Or do you let it wash off you as easily as the rain?
