Put your own ads on your own sites?

If you have multiple websites, do you use any premium ad-space for your own sites? Or are most of the premium spots for other paid ads? I have added my own ads on most of my sites, because it's good to piggyback off the popularity of whatever sites you have.

I do not normally put my own ads on my sites, but sometimes I do it. For instance, I advertise my Amazon books, I also advertise my online stores (on my own domain and on ecommerce marketplaces). I mainly do it on my personal blog.
