You can frequently hear a lot of community owners saying they are not getting enough sign ups by promoting their communities on social site. Do you also really believe it is not possible to gain traction by promoting your forum on social media? Well, in my opinion, promotion works only when you promote to the right audience. For example, if you promote your gaming forums on Facebook groups for selling merch, you will never get engagement on your promotion. However, if you share your community with a group of gamers, they might be interested in your community.

That's why a lot of ad services have direct advertising to the people using the PC or device. It's what some people aren't happy about, because one minute you're talking about getting a new laptop with friends and then all of a sudden every ad is for a laptop.

If youn search for action figures on Amazon, you will see ads eveywhere for action figures. It's all a part of how tech tracks almost everything you do. It's how they directly advertise to you.

It's probably the best way aside from putting your ads on only sites that match your subject matter. But it's considered invasive to some. But when you agree to those terms and conditions on all these sites, a lot of the time you're agreeing to be advertised to, and your searches will be used for that.

Sorry for getting off track. I just like letting people know about how ads are targeted towards people.
