Have you ever experienced troubles with a particular member that just won't follow the rules? How do you deal with it? Ban repeatedly? Permanent ban? or what else?

I had a big problem with a troll a few months back. The user was well known in my community, and in person was actually a nice guy. However, he was just not a good forum user, which I found odd. I ultimately had to permaban him.

Thankfully I have never experienced this myself. I think so as long as you lay down expectations from the beginning and acknowledge wrong doing in a diplomatic yet assertive way people will generally get the message. They either change their way or leave.

I think that the most important thing that you should do here is that you have to ban their ip address in order to prevent them from forming any other account in the future.

All sites some pranksters and spammers. Moderators and admin should be vigilant while handling the forum. When someone posts offensive posts the post should be removed immediately. Would simultaneously block their account and their IP so that they won't be able to trouble the members again. This is very important as these kinds of cyberbullying would crush the interactions in the forum.

Blocking the IP address is the most important thing because there are many people that have tried to be a part of the forum again even after their account or email was banned.

It depends on the member. Well, there shouldn't be favoritism. However, some people might just be having problems. Now, other people, on the other hand are just hoodlums needing to be banned. Now, in some cases, the troubled people are actually producing a lot of good content despite making trouble with other members. This can be an icy situation.

Hey, I totally agree with this! I believe setting proper expectations is a good way to start everything. Rules should be set clearly as well as the repercussions so they are aware of the consequences of their actions.

There is a lot of people that generally try to talk their way out of the consequences for their actions and therefore they are unable to see the full effect of what they have done wrong.

I have never had any issues with the members of my forum. I had a couple of members who were stealing posts from other sites but after I warned them, they just stopped doing it. However, on the forums I participated, I had to deal with trouble makers a couple of times. I even had to deal with a toxic moderator on a certain forum.

If you run a site or forum, you're going to get nefarious characters. Especially a forum that has many different people, from all walks of life, you're bound to find some problem users joining here and there. If these users cause trouble, ban them. Warn them first, but if they continue, it's your site, ban them.
