Press releases - What do you think about them?

I myself has never tried press releases. So I cannot say how is it good for your websites.
Has anyone tried these? Is it good?

Well, I'd say it depends. I'd use PR releases whenever I can just because I like the idea of them but I also think that a nicely wirtten release gets peoples attentions and draws them into what you're saying. Then youy have the issue though of making it look like you want people to read an essay.

I'd go for making a release but putting a short version and long version within one paragraph. This way people can see what you're trying to get accross to them but if they want to read further into it, they can. Either by continuing their reading or going to a provided link.

Depends on the type of site. If you're starting something new that you think could be big- i.e. you've coded a new social network- then a Press Release is for you!
