I thought crawlers will crawl on their own devices without needing to have a 3rd party service doing this for you?

I dont bother pinging the pages for my website, but wanted to know if theres others that do it and see if its worth doing.

I just never seen of this before and thus seems strange to me. As Google and other crawlers I believe will crawl automatically every now and then. And this being "boosted" by adding regularly relevant contents to your website.

Yeah Google and other search engines crawl the net through pages, but some people ping their website's page to get them indexed sooner. (i think thats how it works lol)

But I am just confused on why though... As I believe they will automatically crawl it as needed to your website. So if your a heavy traffic site I would think they do it often enough to keep up. While a smaller site will be visited less often to save everyone the hassles.

Yea I'm not sure why anyone would ever do this. It seems like far to much work for no rewards. Yes, I said no rewards.

I have been known to occasionally resubmit my website in Webmaster Tools. When a new module is added, etc. But not consistently.
