Do you utilize paid user-groups on your forum for your members? If so, why do you make these groups? If not, why do you not? Do you not see the benefit in making these groups?

We personally, at WebGuru have implemented a premium membership option but it is really there just incase anyway does feel the need to be nice and help the site out really. We do offer a VIP area, a free tweet to our followers and stickied topic in return for our premium members so we have tried to make it worth it, haha. What about you?

I think paid usergroups are a good way to show the support for their favourite forums by the members. Having a VIP only section with some valuable find/contents is a sway to show the appreciation of the staffs for the donation they get!

It's also a place where you can discuss things you DONT want Google and a whole host of others to find out about. I think it can be a useful way for a forum owner to cover their costs of operating the forum... :)

My game server costs $35/month, and with the donations we get we paid for XenForo and gmhad $160 to spare. We sell in-game ranks for $10, $15, $20, $30, and $50+.

Minecraft. The game is great for making money on. It's an Indie game, that slowly rose in price, compared to most games that just started at $60.

I have a paid usergroup but nobody has bought it yet. I don't think the forum has enough members to get regular members wanting to up their experience there.
