While supplies last, you can get an actual decent dedicated lower end server for $15 a month from OVH in their KimSufi line on their Black Friday sale (while supplies last).
I grabbed one to play with and am going to compare it to my Contabo server that I pay $6 a month for. The storage capacity is about the same between them but the OVH offering has twice the RAM, with with ES could be handy.
They are not the fastest servers on the planet, but they will do for almost all new sites and even some modest sized ones.
