Online surveys, a good way to earn money or a waste of time?

Previously, I used to earn some money by answering surveys, nowadays I don't do it anymore, do you think it's a good way to earn money online or is it generally a waste of time? In my opinion I think it's okay to start earning some money online, but you can't scale the earnings since I don't think you can earn more than $5 a day completing surveys.

It all depends on your location. If you are in high tire countries like the US and some European countries, you might earn well, however, if you are in low tier countries, for instance in Africa and Asia, you don't earn enough.

From my perspective being a resident of an African country, I would tell anyone that surveys are not good ways to earn money. I have tried for years to earn from surveys and I have not earned up to five dollars from it but I am sure that the perspective would be different for a person in Europe or America.
