One-time payment webhosting providers?

What are your thoughts one-time payment web hosting provider? To me, they seem scratchy and makes me wonder how they even run their business

Exactly; servers aren't a one time cost, neither is network connectivity. The initial price needs to be pretty high to allow for depreciation over time and ongoing costs.

Yeah that doesn't seem right at all. It's super expensive to keep servers online, especially if you're hosting numerous websites. That "one time fee" would probably end up eventually causing the hosting service to shut down once the company couldn't handle the cost. Either that or the consumer would eventually be suckered into spending more than just that one time fee to keep things running.

The old saying of "you get what you pay for" comes to the front.
There is a reason, even though my site isn't that active, that I even now refuse to utilize shared hosting. $8 a month for shitty Go-Daddy shared hosting compared to $16 a month for a 4vCPU/8GB RAM/160GB storage that will simply blow the shared hosting provider out of the water.... yep, I'll spend the extra $8 a month and simply give up one of those morning coffees.
Need more storage... I'll give up another 1-2 of those morning coffees.
