What do you think about offline promotions for your websites?
I have never done it in a serious manner. Of course I have asked my friends to let their friends know about my websites and all. I think its good but it totally depends on the website niche and the interests of your friends!

I do have a lot of friends who never use their computers other than watching video and playing games! :/

straight off have some T shirts printed - they are not expensive - then get your mates to wear them (and you obviously) especially if they are going somewhere special like a festival or sports event - and if its a televised event tell them so do their best to get in the shot background.

then there is car decals - again not necessarily too expensive for just one car especially if that car travels alot

finally sponsorship of local sports teams, especially pub teams - they generally dont want a lot and it can get your site name into the local press

Same here, i have got friends. But very few are interested in the world of internet itself..I tried spreading the word among my friends..but no luck :(

I don't do any. My friends aren't really interested in the sites I build- they basically tell me I'm wasting my time and will never make anything :(

yep i know the "you are just dreaming it wont work" attitude, combined with so what have you made so far cracks - i just tell them i am thinking in terms of years not weeks or months and to ask me in ten years time.

Nice reply, I may steal that ;)

i dont expect to be a millionaire this time next year - this time in ten years i expect to be financially independent though

I've tried it before, didn't work well for me. May have just been the fact I didn't do much or I didn't really care about offline promotion but I don't think it works that well. I've never seen a forum advertised on TV/Radio etc.

I guess it depends on what your site offers, I have never seen a gaming forum advertised through TV, nor would I wear a t-shirt for a website, mine or not, maybe if the design is really small and the logo and url isn't all that is on the shirt. I haven't used offline advertising really, got a friend or two to sign up but other than that none really.
