I know that not everyone can afford to pay their staff but do you try to at least give the staff perks on your forum since they are helping with activity and doing certain duties? If so, what do you offer?

I will sometimes give them payment in paypal cash when we recieve donations.

In general though they get all account upgrades free, special forums, banner ad in the footer and a colour username of there choice :D

If you cannot give perks to your staff, than there is no point of starting a forums. Do you think people are willing to spend time on your forum just for free. Nothing on this world comes for free.

You have a point. It is those little rewards and incentives that makes the people keep coming back for more. It is a form of morale and encouragement.

I don't own a forum for now. When i eventually own a forum and i can't afford to pay my staffs, i would definitely give them perks. It wouldn't seem nice not to give them anything.

Well, one of the reasons why I do not have too many staff is because I cannot pay people. I also do not like employing people without paying. I do not like the concept of volunteering.

I do not own a forum and my business currently is still pretty much small and does not require the need of an employee but i believe giving out perks would be a very good thing to do, especially if its a situation where they are not being paid in the first place.

I recognize my staff members contributions publicly, and give them positive feedback on their work. You can also offer a "Staff Member of the Month" award or something similar to show your appreciation.
