Number of Boards

What do you think? Should a forum open with a lot of boards or only a few? I have to say, I think there are advantages and disadvantages of each system... Thoughts?

I would say, too many or very few, you should fill all the boards with good contents before you open the forum. This will attract new members and encourage members to start posting!

I always go with a few, needed boards, fill them up with content and then add more as your forum expands. It is always best to have as little sections as possible with as much content than many sections with little content in my eyes.

Well said, keep it nice and compact in the beginning and add forums as they are needed.

Boards can be added easily, content cannot. As long as your content is varied and plentiful, then users won't really worry about boards and if they do they can easily be added.

Very true. I am thinking of adding a few more boards to our repertoire now as we are growing slightly. I believe the current layout was put in place around 5-7K posts ago lol so I believe it is due time for an upgrade.
