So Google is saying that there won't me any more PageRank updates. Very interesting.
Is PageRank officially dead no and have no real value for webmasters?
It also turns out the last PR update that was almost over a year ago was not actually intentional either xD So really, the last intentional PR update was like 2 years ago.

What are your thoughts?

I think it's good that they have stopped updating their pr algo. I mean there are the panda and penguin already. So PR was no longer in play. There were a lot of high PR sites which went into the abyss because of the panda and penguin!

It's becoming more of a mystery all the time how Google rank sites. I use all of the third party metrics from Moz etc But I would prefer to see something from Google themselves indicating site strength. This is a shame really.

It's probably a fair call. Having a public facing PageRank allowed webmasters to game the system a bit whereas ultimately Google's aim is to provide the most relevant results for the end user.
